Troyke Vertical or Horizontal Rotary Table 12” Model DL 12B w/Servo
Unit is very clean, in excellent cosmetic condition. Unit powers on, see pictures, in working order (we cannot fully test it as we do not have the capabilities) but it was working when brought in. A full description follows:
Troyke indexing rotary tables are interfaced to the machine control as a rotary indexer or full 4th axis or 5th axis. A variety of M-code actuated controls or stand-alone controls for single axis and dual axis indexing are available. This is an economical substitute for a full 4th axis machine tool interface.
Standard Features of Servo Controller:
· Simple menu-driven commands and soft keys
· LCD Display (position, program, parameters)
· Line repeat, line jump and sub-program call commands
· Absolute and incremental program modes
·Rapid traverse and feed rate mode
· MDI mode capability (manual data input)
· Two keypads for program and parameter entry and editing
· Emergency stop and cycle start pushbuttons
· RS-232 communications port (upload, download & dnc)
· M-function interface capability (cable included)
· Backlash compensation (parameter setting)
· Battery backed memory (298 lines of program space) (999 lines of program
A rotary table is a precision work positioning device used in metalworking. It enables the operator to drill or cut work at exact intervals around a fixed (usually horizontal or vertical) axis. Some rotary tables allow the use of index plates for indexing operations, and some can also be fitted with dividing plates that enable regular work positioning at divisions for which indexing plates are not available. A rotary fixture used in this fashion is more appropriately called a dividing head (indexing head).
The table shown is a manually operated type. Powered tables under the control of CNC machines are now available, and provide a fourth axis to CNC milling machines. We have seen this item for sale in several places at $7,500 without the servo. This is, indeed, a bargain!
Rotary tables are made with a solid base, which has provision for clamping onto another table or fixture. The actual table is a precision-machined disc to which the work piece is clamped (T slots are generally provided for this purpose). This disc can rotate freely, for indexing, or under the control of a worm (handwheel), with the worm wheel portion being made part of the actual table. High precision tables are driven by backlash compensating duplex worms.
The ratio between worm and table is generally 40:1, 72:1 or 90:1 but may be any ratio that can be easily divided exactly into 360°. This is for ease of use when indexing plates are available. A graduated dial and, often, a vernier scale enable the operator to position the table, and thus the work affixed to it with great accuracy.
A through hole is usually machined into the table. Most commonly, this hole is machined to admit a Morse taper center or fixture.
Rotary tables are most commonly mounted "flat" with the table rotating around a vertical axis, in the same plane as the cutter of a vertical milling machine. If the rotary table can be mounted on its end, so that it rotates about a horizontal axis, a tailstock can be used to hold the workpiece "between centers."
* To machine spanner flats on a bolt
* To drill equidistant holes on a circular flange
* To cut a round piece with a protruding tang
* To cut complex curves (with proper setup)
If converted to stepper motor operation, with a CNC converted vertical milling machine, and tailstock to produce much that would normally require a lathe. Below are the specs specific to the DL 12B Troyke Model.
